Secret Holiday Activity

I have a little friend named Frances. She’s currently six years old. She considers herself an artist. Last year, we decided to do a secret activity to make gifts for everyone in her family. We did pottery painting. She chose all the pieces and did all the painting, with just a little help from me. Her color choices all involved pink and purple. We worked pretty hard on how to keep a secret, and what to say when people tried to make you spill the secret. She did a fantastic job on that, and everyone was quite surprised with what we made.
This year, our Secret Activity was jewelry. We took a beading class at the local bead shop, and we each made a necklace and a bracelet. My friend Randi gave me an American Girl Paper Clip Jewelry Kit, and Frances and I had a fun afternoon making three bracelets, two of which are pictured here. Would you ever guess that they are made out of plain old silver paper clips and a few beads?
